Exciting things are coming!

In the meantime, allow me to apologise for the lack of posting in the last few weeks. During Camp NaNo, I have been very focused on my first draft of Fragile Love: Silk Sheets, and I haven’t found the time to update my blog. For doing that without prior warning, I apologise.

Now, for my April update.

Camp NaNoWriMo

I reached my goal and finished my first draft of Silk Sheets! It’s fantastic. I wrote 120k words in two weeks. I’ve never written that much that quickly before. Whether it’s any good is up in the air as I am being quite brutal during my proofread, but it’s still finished which means I’m one step into the writing process for this novel.

I’m pretty happy with what I ended up with, story-wise, I feel like I have proper command of both Augustus and Jamie’s voices, but I think I’m going to have to re-outline before I start the second draft because I’m no longer sure about some of my plot decisions. Regardless, I finished the first draft and that means the most difficult part is out of the way, now it’s just a case of making the novel ready for eventual publishing.

I’m one month out from finishing my first session of my new university degree. This is the other reason I have been neglecting my blog. So far, so good, I think. I did really well in one of my subjects’ first assessment, not so well in the other subject’s first assessment, but it’s a learning curve, I’ve never studied anything like it before, so we will see how I go from here on out.

I will be launching my authortube channel on youtube on June 13th! Mark your calendars, I promise it will be good. It’s been a while since I made a youtube video but I am excited about starting again, and this time about something I have so much love for: writing! During my first video I will be making some announcements about this site and my work.

Fragile Love news

During my authortube launch I will be announcing some news about my romance series, specifically, about the first book Paper Flowers. It’s something I’ve been thinking pretty hard about in the last couple of weeks and I think I have made some decisions that will positively impact the series and my writing career moving forwards.

I have begun worldbuilding for my fantasy-romance series, The Divide. I’m really interested in the world I’m creating and I’m looking forward to sharing some of my developments with you in the coming months.

I also have a special series, a fantasy epic, that I have been working on for the last fourteen years almost. I’m getting to the stage where I’m ready to begin writing my first draft of the first novel, so look out for some news and discussions about this series entitled Fables of Destiny.

Trip back to my hometown

This coming week I am back in my hometown for my brother’s wedding. I haven’t seen my family since I moved to Melbourne in February so I have been looking forward to this week for a while. I also love weddings so I am very excited. Not to mention, I am the MC for the reception and if there’s one thing I love, it’s pretending I am a stand-up comedian in front of a room of strangers. Getting the opportunity to roast the hell out of my big brother after all the ribbings I’ve gotten from him throughout my life is a brilliant bonus. I am looking forward to that.

Thank you for sticking around through my unplanned hiatus, I’m hoping to get back to regular updates from here on out. Look for Wednesday and Saturdays at 6:00 pm AEST updates for this blog through May. Schedule will be changing in June with the launch of my authortube.

Wednesday’s post will be on why I write LGBTQ* romance as opposed to straight romance.
